Help Us Build a Winter Barn for Rescue Goats Before Autumn 2026

At Hensell Goat Rescue Care Farm CIC, every goat deserves safety, warmth, and a second chance.

Last winter was one of our hardest yet. Despite receiving urgent requests for help, we were forced to turn away more than 35 goats because we simply did not have enough suitable winter accommodation to keep them safe and comfortable during the colder months.

For a rescue, saying "no" is heartbreaking.

That's why we're launching our Winter Barn Appeal 2026.

Why We Need a Winter Barn

Goats are particularly vulnerable to prolonged wet and cold weather. Adequate shelter is essential for their health, welfare, and recovery—especially for elderly, neglected, disabled, or recently rescued animals.

A purpose-built winter barn will allow us to:

Provide safe, dry winter accommodation for rescued goats.

Increase our rescue capacity during emergency situations.

Reduce the number of goats we have to turn away.

Improve welfare standards for our existing residents.

Create a secure environment for veterinary treatment and rehabilitation.

More Than Just a Barn

This project is about more than animal welfare.

The new barn will be designed as a multi-purpose community space, allowing us to:

Welcome visitors throughout the year.

Host school visits and educational groups.

Run workshops and community events.

Provide sheltered activities regardless of weather.

Create opportunities for people to learn about animal welfare, farming, and conservation.

The barn will become a valuable resource not only for our goats but also for the wider community.

Our Goal

We are fundraising now to ensure construction can be completed before Autumn 2026, giving us the accommodation we desperately need ahead of the next winter season.
