I've raised £500 to Ngora Freda Carr Hospital, Uganda

Ngora District is located in central eastern Uganda. It is a rural area and the people work in the fields to produce crops. They have been hit by locusts and Covid-19.
The normal process is that patients who are admitted to hospital, their basic needs are provided by relatives who assist with providing meals and general hygiene. Ngora Freda Carr Hospital is a health centre 5 which is equivalent to a district general hospital.
The medical superintendent explained the impact of the current situation. Ngora did have the impact of the first wave of locusts, the second wave missed them and they are now praying for the rains so they are not affected by the third wave.
The status of COVID 19 management in Ngora is preventive. A general lockdown is in place: the general population is not free to move to seek for health. There is no knowledge of what is happening to the sick in the community, who have any non - COVID illnesses. We now have repaired our hospital ambulance for the purpose of picking up children under 5 years and pregnant mothers from lower health facilities. Our need here is for fuel for the ambulance and maintenance costs for the ambulance.
There is no concrete arrangement for moving patients from their communities to the lower health facilities.
We have not yet had a COVID case in Ngora district. The School of nursing works as an isolation / quarantine centre. Details of looking after the quarantined people are not good. We have 5 of them currently. We do not feed them or meet most of their basic needs, so they are generally unhappy. We needed to provide them good amount of psycho - social support while in quarantine. Ofcourse testing is done centrally in Entebbe, and the testing capacity is low. Increased testing capacity is a big nation wide need.
Health worker protective equipment is not easily available, posing a huge fear among the health workers, another area of dire need. We have re - inforced your hand washing efforts (soap & water) by adding a few more hand washing stations in the hospital, including the main gate.
Thank you lots for your inquiry.
God bless you, and deliver all humanity from the COVID plague!
Money raised will go to provide
Equipment, fuel for their ambulance and to provide food for patients and staff
