Horses have been a big part of my life since I was a child and my whole family knows first hand the benefits that riding can bring in terms of both physical and mental wellbeing. So I am delighted to be taking part in the St Albans Rotary Swimathon on 27 April in aid of the wonderful Digswell Place RDA Group in Hertfordshire which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year with a visit from HRH The Princess Royal. The purpose-built centre relies on voluntary donations and recently extended its remit to provide contact with horses in a safe environment for people living with dementia. My aim is to swim 1000 metres in half an hour, a bit of a stretch but not beyond the realms of possibility.
