15 years ago i separated from my huband , leaving with my 5 children under 12 . The youngest 2 ( my husbands children were 5 and 2 years old . I left him because he had been extremely abusive mentally and physically to myself and my oldest 3 children , I totally feared for my life but didnt want to involve social services as i knew i was strong enough to cope with my life and my children .He threw me out of our house with physical force in the December following the birth of our youngest son in the August , at the time i was still breast feeding and i could hear our son crying in the house !! He was 4 months old !!! I had a choice , myself or my children . I chose my children. My 5 children and myself lived in a small flat for 2 years and when the opportunity came up 2 years later to buy an ex-council property ,i enquired about it . At this point I realised that it was better for myself and the youngest childrens father maintained a harmonious relationship.

It turned out that being self employed i didnt have enough money for the deposit on the house as i was self employed ( i have worked full-time always) so........ my lovely husband lent me in 2005 July £17,000 ! He took a second charge on my house , where i have brought up my children , very sucessfully , my oldest 3 have all attended university and now have jobs and we enjoy very close relationships. My oldest boy to my huband is at university studying chemistry and devides his time between both homes, my youngest son is now 16 and is a joy .

The arrangment between myself and my husband was that to pay back the £17,000 he would reduce my maintainance payments by £130 a month in 2005 . So that ehen i youngest child turned 18 next year i would have paid him back with interest . Sounded a good deal to me !

However this week i received divorce papers from the court , which is ok by me . Only when he brought our youngest son home last night after having him for the weekend , i said to him the divorce was ok by me and when would the second charge be removed from my house as i had now repaid him ,plus more ? He put the finger up at me and said ”you should’nt be so gullible darling “ he is now asking for the£17,000 backwhen i have already paid him back and more !!!! I have no money to stop this !!! We only had a verbal agreement on the loan and repayment ! I have been so stupid but he is such a bully !!!
