Story
Ginger Huts was the brainchild of Emily (a special needs teacher and mum of 4) and Vanessa (mum of 2 children with special needs) as a result of being given use of a stunning piece of land in Gosden House School in Surrey, UK.
Our plan is to open up yurt and safari tent 'glamping' that is both eco-sustainable and accessible for people with physical and cognitive disabilities. Because we believe in community cohesion, we will invite all open-minded families to benefit from our facilities.
In the second phase of our project, we want to use our growing business as a platform for a workskills employment program for young adults with disabilites- where they can learn essential skills for employment which will then be a basis for them to find work in their local communities.
We already have interest from community partners and a local university who are taking a keen interest in our project and are advising on how to ensure we are sustainable. We are working closely with Gosden House SEN school to develop an educational program that re-thinks traditional approaches to further education for adults with disabilities.
Like many great initiatives out there, our only barrier is funding. We are relying on the generous donations of people who believe in our vision to get our project of the ground. Once we are open, we know we will be able to sustain ourselves and aim to grow our project onto new sites.
We really appreciate any interest in our project. Please check out our website and follow our blog for updates on how we are progressing! www.gingerhuts.com
