Welcome to the In-Memory fundraising page for Giovanna. As you will all know, our beloved mum had a life-long passion for cooking. She was happiest when the house was full, when the kitchen was buzzing and the sounds of laughter filled the air.

Cooking wasn’t just a passion for Giovanna; it was the way she loved. Her food was made with care, with tradition and with an instinctive touch that only she had. She loved exploring recipes, putting her own twist on them, and sharing what she’d learned. But more than anything, she loved passing on that knowledge to her sons and grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than teaching them how to cook —not just the skills, but the meaning behind the meal, the time spent together, the love that lives in every bite.

We thought it would be a lovely idea to support a local not-for-profit who shares her passion for cooking.

Food etc is a wonderful organisation that works with groups in the local community in and around the Bedford area to teach fundamental cookery skills in fun, relaxed workshop settings. They work with everyone from school children and their parents to adult community groups to make better food choices by equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to be able to shop, cook and eat more healthily.

They run a variety of courses that are designed around the age range and needs of the participants. Benefits include:

Improving self-confidence through the learning of new skills

Encouraging adults and children to try new foods and activities increases their willingness to try other things together that they wouldn’t usually

Increasing family cohesion

Teaching children practical fine motor and numeracy skills
