Story

I am a proud single mum, outnumbered by my 2 boys and I have a makeup business with over 10 years experience for weddings and private lessons. Over the last 8 months, my family and I have been heavily reliant on the NHS and if it wasn't for them, I would have lost 2 members of my family. After witnessing them save their lives, I am also incredibly grateful to them for looking after my children. The gratitude I feel for the doctors & nurses helping my family made me want to give back and offer something that would help our overstretched NHS.

To give something back, I want to launch a separate non profit arm of my business offering people who have scarring or life-impacting skin blemishes, the opportunity to learn, for FREE, how to use makeup correctly as a camouflage. This is a specialised area in makeup due to the complexities of altered skin, for example, after it has healed from a burn. Giving people these skills, in my opinion, would positively empower them and instil more confidence on a daily basis to live their life as they wish. It would make such a difference to their wellbeing, forever! This is one of the things I absolutely love about teaching make up and the positive effect it can make to someone’s life.

The opportunity has arisen for me to complete a Paramedical Camouflage Makeup Graduate Diploma with the British Association of Skin Camouflage in 2019. I need to raise the course fee, £1000, by January in order to secure my place. When I've trained, I can offer FREE skin camouflage lessons.

Currently in my area - Kent and Sussex - a small number of hospitals offer patients the opportunity once a month to learn about camouflage makeup. The nearest one to me is The Queen Victoria in East Grinstead and at present, there is an 8-month waiting list for these patients. I am planning to do 10x 1 hour sessions per week which will help alleviate this long 8-month wait with the NHS.

In order to raise £1000 to attend this course, along with this page, I am selling 3 different makeup sessions, perfect for gifts this Christmas, of which the entire profits will go towards funding the course. If you know someone who might love a makeup session, please take a look here at what is on offer, or if you would just like to help me raise the money to train as a Paramedical Camouflage Makeup Artist, any amount will all go towards my training with the British Association of Skin Camouflage.

Thank you so much for reading this.
