Story

I am running the length of Great Britain to raise money to buy a new wheel chair for Joshua Atkins - a 15 year old boy with Cerebral Palsy and dreams of becoming a chef!

I am a teacher at Saint Wilfrid's CE Academy in Blackburn, and have been for the last three years. For all of that time I have been lucky enough to have Josh in my class. Josh has Cerebral Palsy and is confined to a wheel chair, yet he is always the most up beat, positive person in the room (if not the school).

Josh loves cooking and dreams of becoming a chef one day. But for that to happen he needs a new wheel chair!

The wheel chair Josh needs will allow him to move from a seating to a standing position and allow him to work at a kitchen counter like he needs to.

This new chair will cost £20,000.

As an Academy we are pulling together to try and raise this huge amount but as Josh has been a such a big character in my lessons for all the time I have been teaching, I want to do something a little extra.

I intend to complete the Lands End to John O Groats Virtual Run in 2021. I have until 22nd November to run the 874 miles that would take me the entire length of Great Britain.

More information about the event can be found here: End to End run

Josh is an amazing young man who deserves the opportunity to follow his dreams and the new wheel chair will give him this. I will be running 17 miles a week, every week for the next 12 months, all I'm asking you to do is click the button on the right and donate whatever you can!!

Thank you.
