Weʼve raised £435 to Pay our Glasgow Shanty Night Performers

Funded on Saturday, 19th December 2020

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

Musicians across the country are suffering a lack of income from cancelled gigs. Audiences at The Oban International Shanty Festival At Home gave generously to the Musician's Union Hardship Fund. We are being a little more direct by asking you to show your appreciation for our great artists appearing at the Glasgow Shanty Night, 26th September by donating any sum you consider appropriate for night of rip-roaring songs and stories of the sea.

Dear Shanty Lovers, a very belated thank you to all of you who donated to the Glasgow Shanty Night. It meant that we were able to pay our performers though some chose to ask that we make a donation to a suitable charity. Both Monkey’s Fist and Jim Saville had been due to perform from Robin Hood’s Bay in West Yorkshire on behalf of the RNLI, so we added a little ourselves and sent them a cheque for £100. Look out for news our next festival, the Oban International Shanty Festival in June. Many thanks. We look forward to seeing you all in June.
