Story

Glasgow Tandem Club was formed in 2018, with an aim to bring together vision impaired and sighted cyclists for two rides a month. The club has grown from its inception to 33 members, 11 of whom are vision impaired, and is a valuable resource for these cyclists who would otherwise not be able to enjoy riding outside. As well as the benefit from the exercise and fresh air, the rides are also social outings - a cafe stop is always included, with plenty of time for lunch and a chat.

To raise funds for the club and help it continue making a difference to the lives of vision impaired people, in June/July 2023 three members of the club are cycling the length of the UK, from Land's End to John o' Groats (a ride of ~1,000 miles). Beth and Cheryl, one of the club's vision impaired members, will be riding on a tandem, with Ian accompanying on a solo bike. We are aiming to complete the ride in three weeks, and will be mostly camping. This is a tough challenge, and the many hills will be particularly tough on a tandem, which are notoriously difficult for climbing. We would really appreciate your support in the form of donations for the club.

Funding would be useful for maintenance, storage and transport of the tandems and for possible expansion of the fleet of tandems, which are very expensive bikes. Your donations will help the club continue making a difference to the lives of vision impaired people.
