On the 7th October 2015, my life completely changed for good. One day I was living with my wife and two lovely boys, working as a self-employed electrician, going to football and gigs and the next day I was rushed to hospital. Unfortunately as a result of an infection going septic, my kidneys failed, my lungs collapsed and I spent two and a half weeks in intensive care. Luckily I survived but I was left initially with no movement, they eventually discovered that I had an abscess on my spine. Due to a delay in diagnosis the abscess has left me with reduced feeling from my stomach down and no feeling in my feet at all, so I'm now a wheelchair user.

It's been over 13 months now and I've yet to return home as we need to adapt our home to make it accessible for me. Unfortunately due to my wife working full time, we've been refused any help from the local council to adapt our home. They have decided that we need to pay the first £54,000 of any works needed before they will help us financially. The cost for the extension, to provide a wet room, bedroom downstairs and an accessible kitchen is going to cost in the region of £50,000 but we were only able to borrow £31,000. Family have kindly helped but we're still at least £5,000 short.

I wish I didn't have to ask, but I really want to get home and be with my family so we can start our new life together. If you could spare anything, no matter how small, we would be truly thankful.
