Story

The challenges resume......

This is Part 3 of the challenge. (Apologies Covid got in the way)

Thanks to all your amazing donations in Part 1 and 2. I have now come to this platform as FB is shit. All previous donations will be donated from me into this platform as a lump sum.

As a group we have managed to raise over £1500 which is fantastic, this will be added to the final total target of £2500. Thank you so much!

We have all seen and suffered the recent ongoings with the world and I hope you have all had a safe passage through this pandemic. We are all now entering some interesting and challenging times.

Firstly I need to start with apologies as the initial challenge was only meant to run until my Birthday and I am hoping you can all forgive me, as all of the challenges I had planned were slowly cancelled. If you want a refund just let me know.

Below is the story so far as most of you will know.

2020 marks a milestone! 20 years of friendship with a Mr Matt Warin.

Matt is my brother from another mother and has supported me and many, many others through tough times. He is a family man, a man who can engage and capture the imagination of children.

Before his tragic accident in 2016 he would set aside his personal time to spend every waking hour possible with his two lovely boys.

Matt loves the outdoor life. Oceans, mountains and forests.

Time with Matt = adventures and smiles.

This was all taken away from him in 2016 when he was out cycling in his much loved city of Brighton. A tragic collision with a car left him severely brain damaged, which has resulted in the loss of his movement throughout his entire body. Since the incident, he has made some very good improvements and he continues to persevere as always. This has been made possible thanks to the funding that his friends and family have raised so far. This funding needs to be on going for the continued support for therapies and treatments to help improve his ability and also to provide comfort in such emotional and physical circumstances.

Most of you will know of his story by now, however as the 20 year milestone is approaching, It is my time to help my best mate and I ask you all firstly for a donation and secondly for your support. Most of you will have supported this cause is one way or another and all I ask is a small donation of whatever you can afford or even better pledge a visit instead. If you've never been to see your old friend Matt or are worried or scared, then now is your chance. Donate your time, not your money and go and visit him. Contact me if you are unsure how or where to do this.

As everything is revolving around 20 this year, I plan to complete 20 seperate challenges throughout Australia. Most of these challenges will be physically demanding and will no doubt inflict some serious pain and suffering on my body. The challenges will gradually get harder throughout the months and they include some pretty heavy events such as:

1) Jan 4th Dawesville Parkrun 5km (Completed with Sarah and Kids)

2) Jan 12th Point Walter, Perth 10km run (completed)

3) Feb 2nd Friendship Run Perth 10km (completed with Paul Rackham)

4) Feb 9th John Forest trail run 13km run ( completed with Gumnut injuries )

5) Feb 16th Jarrahdale Forest 15km run (Completed)

12) August 26th Half Marathon 23km around Halls Head (Completed)

13) August 30th Bloated Goat 12.2km hill climb Hardest 12km in WA (Completed)

14) Sep 5th Swan River Half Marathon (Completed)

15) Sept 19th Pilbara Half Marathon (Completed)

16) November 21st Covid Gym half Marathon (Completed)

17) December 6th 14000ft Skydive over Rottnest Island (Completed)

18) Feb 14th Bussleton Jetty swim 3.6k (Completed)

19) Feb21st Rottnest channel crossing swim Team 5.0km each (Completed)

20) 23rd May Gold Coast 30k (Completed)

21) June 13th The Marathon Rottnest Island 42k (Completed YAH)

22) The (virtual) Hadrians Wall Challenge TBA 150km bike ride.

As the funding required is ongoing, its tricky to set a target, I would like to achieve this amount in GBP £3000 if possible. But more importantly rack up some visiting hours from old friends that do not get to see Matt but will make a difference to his life.

Thank you, you're all fricken rock stars!! XXXX
