Story
A year or so ago there was a lovely greyhound who due to various circumstances was in need of a home. He was a lovely lad but was rather big and needed a bit of controlling when out for a walk. Fortunately he was placed in the care of Greyhound Lifeline, an independent Greyhound welfare and homing group, and after a number of months in their care he was finally placed in a loving home and I want to say a special thank you by raising some much needed funds for them.
They are a small organisation and what is really impressive is that they have ZERO PAID STAFF OR MANAGEMENT, they are 100% volunteer run so every penny raised will go directly towards the care of the dogs currently looking to be rehomed. The dogs need to be fed, walked, given warm and comfortable accommodation and every penny will make a big difference - bigger charities have all sorts of staff cost overheads but here we can make a real difference. Have a look at their website for a better explanation of their work https://www.greyhoundlifeline.co.uk/
So, on Saturday 25 May I am walking 25km as part of the Ultra Challenge Series - I'm doing the first quarter of the London to Brighton walk and those who know me will wonder if I have lost the plot! But this is a great cause and I've already started my training (no, not by walking to the pub before you ask :) ). I m covering the cost of entry myself - not out of any funds raised. Details of the event are here https://www.ultrachallenge.com/london-2-brighton-challenge
I would really like to raise £1000 but £500 would still make a big difference so if you can afford a few pounds this would be really appreciated. It's money that will go directly towards looking after these wonderful animals, and surely the thought of me struggling over the Country Trails with my hiking gear on is worth a few quid just for the comedy value :)
Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
