We are a group of 6 artists. Each working with different medium. We would like to raise a minimum of £400 to exhibit works focused on Issues of mental health to help raise awareness of the battles that are fought inside of peoples minds. The £400 will entirely go towards hiring a venue for 2 days. materials cost and everything else will be covered by us.
Mental health is a broad topic, and understanding some of the aspects and struggles associated with it can help to put individual experiences in context. In the UK, 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (such as anxiety and depression) in any given week. Yet the subject is still stigmatic and misunderstood in todays society. We believe arts can be the voice for those who have none.
The exhibition, named GLITCH, will be displaying traditional and fine arts, film and photography, three dimensional art and sculpture as well as interactive art and performance. All the pieces will revolve around depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, phobias, bipolar and psychosis and will be for sale after the 2 day display is over. 50% of all money made will be donated to Mind, a support network and charity for people dealing with mental health problems. The other 50% will feed six tiered and hungry artists. This will be open to anyone for 48 hours and will be held in Brighton, UK.
