Fundraising Appeal for the Family of the Late Vincy Rijo

As you all may already know, this week brought the heartbreaking news of the passing of Mrs Vincy Rijo, who lived with her family in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Vincy departed this life on Wednesday 7th May 2025, after a painful battle with stomach cancer diagnosed just a year ago.

Vincy’s family had only been settled in the UK for the last two years. However, in the short time they were here, the family had assimilated into the local Malayalee Community in Gloucestershire.

Throughout her illness, Vincy remained hopeful and dedicated to her family, especially her three daughters – Anna (Year 9), Angel (Year 8) and Agna (Year 6), and her husband, Rijo.

As the primary breadwinner, Vincy faced significant financial challenges due to substantial medical and travel expenses while seeking treatment in addition to the debts they already carried after moving to UK. This has placed an enormous financial burden on them. Now, her passing has left them in a state of uncertainty, particularly concerning their ability to remain in the country.

We call upon all the Malayalees in Gloucestershire and beyond to come together and support Vincy's family - especially her young children.

Following a joint meeting of representatives from all the Malayalee Community organisations in Gloucestershire initiated by Fr Jibin Vamattam, Vicar of St Mary’s Church, an online fundraising initiative has been launched to support Vincy's family.
