    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

Please help us return my sixteen year old nephew Ashley, who has had to have his leg amputated to his family home which he is currently unable to do as the house is totally unsuitable.

Ashley has spent his entire life in pain and has undergone numerous operations throughout his life at Bristol Children's hospital as well as Derriford Hospital, which has stolen his childhood and meant his schooling and social life have always been effected.

Despite all these challenges, Ashley has never complained and gone through it all with a smile on his face and an attitude that he was far luckier than some and was always more concerned about the other children in hospital with him.

Unfortunately after having his leg removed, Ashley now only wants to return home to start the rest of his life and the long road to recovery, however his family home is unsuitable and needs numerous alterations before he is able to return and after everything he has been through we are hoping that the generosity of the general public will assist us with the costs of converting the garden to a disabled parking area, installing double doors wide enough for his wheelchair, interior alterations to increase space and redevelopment of an outbuilding to give him an access to a toilet and bathroom on the ground floor.

We would be so grateful for any assistance or donation that will help us finally get Ashley's life off to the new start he deserves and if anyone wishes to arrange any form of fundraising event on his behalf please let us know as after sixteen years of pain and suffering, this is hopefully the start of a new more exciting chapter of his life.

Another huge thank you to the members of the Sir George Cook Lodge, East Cornwall Province, RAOB GLE, from Torpoint who made a personal donation to Carmen, Ashley's mum that will be added to the total of the family Fundraising day being held at Millbrook football club next Saturday, which we hope as many people as possible will support from 2.30pm onwards. As always thank you for your continued support and please keep sharing the page and links.

Speechless is not a state that is common to me but I can't believe the generosity and kindness of the general public. Special thanks go to Mr Thomas Clayton of Just giving press office who took time out of his busy schedule to bring Ashley's story to the Herald who in turn ran a very touching piece which resulted in a number of unbelievable donations that words can never express how grateful we are. We are getting there and once again thank you for everyone's support.
