I'm raising £10000 to help keep football accessible for our women's, non-binary and trans inclusive football team!

Story

On May 5th, ahead of the Women’s FA Cup final later in the month, our GDFC members will walk from our training pitches at Haggerston to Wembley to deliver a letter to the FA urging them to rethink their current transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming grassroots football policy.

In 1921 the FA banned women from playing football on FA affiliated pitches, over 100 years later they are still trying to ban women from playing, this time taking aim at our transgender team mates.

We are walking to raise money for our trans and gender non-conforming inclusive team to keep football financially accessible to people who have historically been, and continue to be excluded from the game by the FA and wider society. We will split sponsorship money 50/50 with Not A Phase Org, a trans-led, nationwide charity committed to uplifting and improving the lives of trans+ adults, through awareness campaigning, social projects and funding trans+ lead initiatives.

Our fundraising goal began at £1,921, to represent the year the FA began trying to control women’s access to the beautiful game, but as we have had such amazing support we have increased that goal.
