Story
My lovely, wonderful nan has recently been diagnosed with Dementia, an illness which affects more than 850,000 people in the UK alone.
Luckily, my nan is being cared for by the wonderful people at Elizabeth House, Essex. They really do a great job at making sure that my Nan and the rest of the residents are happy and stimulated.
Unfortunately, as I'm based in New Zealand, there's not much I can do to help my nan - So, my partner, Matt and I have decided to run a 10Km race on 25th November to raise money for Elizabeth House to surprise my Nan and the other residents with a treat, to make them smile. Trust me, I'm no runner, so this will be a challenge to complete but knowing it's for a good cause will help me on my way.
This money will go directly to those suffering from dementia and will be given in the form of a day out or an event-based within Elizabeth House. Let's create something beautiful and give those suffering from dementia something wonderful to smile about.
