I am going well out of my comfort zone and running the Rob Burrow Marathon in Leeds on May 11th 2025. Anyone who knows me, knows I hate running, and genuinely am scared of this event. It’s a huge task for me but I want to do it to raise money to support those suffering with their mental health and those who are taking their own life as the only way out. This is why I want to raise money for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)who support and are there for men and others who are really struggling.

I am doing this because on Monday 4th November 2024 I had the awful news that my cousin, Dominic House, had taken his own life. This was a man who, despite all that life threw at him, never looked for pity, wore a smile on his face, and put his family and friends before himself - always! We now know that constant smile, the sarcastic comments, and jovial insults he gave us were masking his pain, anguish, and suffering.

He has left a huge hole in our hearts, his children have lost the best father anyone can ask for, and we have lost someone who truly had a heart of gold. I want to put myself through what I know will be the most painful and physically challenging task (for me) as it is a fraction of what Dom and others are going through. If that can make a little bit of money to support others it’s all worth it!
