We have written evidence of very serious mistreatment by our bank, Santander UK plc, included false representations and not disclosing important information about the Enterprise Finance Guarantee (EFG) Scheme set up by the UK government to help small and medium businesses (SME's) to obtain lending and grow. When we found out about these issues nearly a year later in 2013 and asked the bank to put it right, within a few weeks they closed down all our trading facilities. Based on independent forensic reports, the actions of Santander Bank have caused us losses of over £3 million plus legal costs. The Financial Ombudsman said it was outside their resolution limit of £150,000, and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) claim they cannot intervene either. We've tried Formal Complaints, Solicitors and Mediation, but for over 4 years they have refused to resolve our complaint in a satisfactory way. We have written evidence that many other businesses may be affected by the same issues. So we urgently need the funds to go to court and expose the facts publicly, and ensure the survival of this business. The most important aspect is that we are taking this stand on behalf of all UK businesses who suffer mistreatment from banks, and to improve the resolution options for all businesses and individuals so that they do not have to suffer the same awful delays and costs we have experienced.
