Story
As part of my work, I assist Grameen Caledonian College of Nursing in Bangladesh with their Nursing programme. Bangladesh is suffering more than most countries because of Covid 19 and the healthcare system is struggling to manage the consequences of the virus. Subsequently, the nursing students are have had to cope with studying while the college campus is closed, looking after themselves and caring their families. As many come from poor families they have struggled financially to pay for healthcare and have experienced severe hardship over the last few months. This is led me to fundraise to provide some support to help them if they become unwell, or experience additional hardship during this time.
Normally I commute to GCU in Glasgow each day. This is distance of 70km and I will run this distance in as short a period as possible.
More info about the college: GCCN was developed to prioritise nursing education, healthcare and prosperity to ensure the healthcare services for future generations . It aims to provide young people from the rural area in Bangladesh with the opportunity to study at a higher level in order to break the cycle of early marriage, pregnancy, and poverty. https://gccn.ac.bd/
