    Story

    Raigmore + Tayside Hospital’s
    And
    Tia Crichton
    Fund

We as a family have decided to make an appeal to raise money for three very good causes close to our hearts.
Firstly Tia is a fourteen year old teenager who was just your normal teenage child untill around 6 weeks ago she took ill and was admitted to raigmore hospital in inverness. She remained there for around three week’s before having to be transfered to Tayside hospital in dundee.
It was at dundee they discovered she had a very rare condition called idiopathic intacranial hypertension. This is swelling on the brain which has caused her to have a shunt from her brain to her stomach to reduce the fluid on her brain. This has dramatically changed her life causing her to lose her sight in her right eye and now has very little sight from her left to the point of only seeing shadows and very bright colours The medical name for the condtion for her eyes is papilledema(swelling of the optic disc). She has also lost a great deal of movemeant down her right side which has also made her balance very poor to the extent she has to use a wheel chair and for very short walks she will use her crutches. All this damage has been done due to her condition idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
Sadly that is not everything she has also lost her hearing in her right ear.mentally she has gone back to being a little girl and not the cheery teenage girl she once was doing the normal things girls her age do.
Tia needs constant supervision from mostly from her mother and nana. She can not use stairs and sadly her bedroom is upstairs which she can not accsess anymore. The family are in the very long process of trying to get an extension built onto the back of the house for a bedroom that will be accessible and fit for purpose for all of Tia’s needs so she can have the best life possible with all her conditions part of the money rasied will go towards this.

We would like to emphasize the importance to us as a family where the money raised will be distributed out too.Just to reiterate the the total money raised will be split between the two hospital's to what they see fit i.e new beds, equipment,Even down to toys for the kids to be occupied with while they stay in hospital. As for Tia as said already in regards to Tia the money will partly going towards helping with an extension for a bed room as this is in the early stages it is impossible to put a price on this at the moment.More to follow....
