I've raised £800 to take a group of disabled kids from a government orphanage in Bangkok on a holiday of a lifetime.

This August I will be volunteering with a charity called 1step2step in Bangkok, Thailand. The charity supports children with disabilities in Thailand's only state-run orphanage in Bangkok. Headed up by Nicola Anderson, 1step2step aims to deliver physical and social care for the kids, increasing their quality of life. The charity also works to encourage the kids to develop to their full potential and grow up to be valued Thai citizens, with their own individual character and personality.
These resilient children have lived most of their lives within a ward in the orphanage, alongside 40 other children; only spending nights away when admitted to hospital. They spend a large part of their day lying on a mat and rarely going out on outings. Caring for so many children with so few staff means one to one attention is minimal.
This summer myself and a group of volunteers will be taking the children on a holiday, providing one-one care for the kids. Undoubtedly this will be a holiday of a lifetime for the children, allowing them to experience life outside the walls of the orphanage. However, this will only be possible if the team raise sufficient funds. Donations of any size will therefore be gratefully received.
