In January of 2017 I’m going to travel to South Africa to spend 6 months volunteering at LIV village. LIV village has an incredible vision that has resonated very deeply with me; they foster children long-term and place them in loving families with trained foster mothers. They’ve created a community modelled after an African village lifestyle where the children can feel safe and accepted, they have access to education, healthcare, church and a variety of support.

I’m going to spend the first 3 months generally helping in the village and growing myself, learning from the people around me and from God. Then from months 4-6 I’m going to be interning with a section of the village’s work force, which could be any number of things, from agriculture to social services.

I have seen firsthand how being in a loving family can transform a young child’s life, and going to LIV would be incredible, to be able to see more of that transformation.
