Pancreatic cancer has taken the life of Flt Lt (Rtd) Samantha McConnell - a wonderful strong and inspirational woman with 2 young children. She has faced many life difficulties and now her children, whom she chose to have alone, are deprived of their amazing role model.

Full of energy, zest for life and craziness, Sammi leaves a gaping hole in the world. Her RAF career as a linguist and Ops Spt (intelligence Officer) brought her into contact with many people and she made friends across the world. Sammi's words: "OK in typical blunt but practical terms. CT scan results. They are 90% certain I have primary pancreatic cancer, secondary liver. Palliative care really main practical option. No time or any option of surgery, chemo etc. Blood test also proved positive for pancreatic cancer another positive marker. Waiting for a multi disciplinary meeting to be held between medical specialists in Lincoln and Nottingham to work out what medical palliative care would provide most comfort. Not in any pain going to take any drugs available. The time span is quite quick. Life Expectancy from diagnosis of pancreatic cancer to death is 6-8weeks and I don't know what stage I am in as symptoms only appeared or I noticed on 2Aug! Shock to the system for everyone. Telling my little girl today that I am dying of cancer and will die soon but can't say when, has to be the most shittiest thing I have ever done in my life, and I thought reading eulogies for my nan, grandad, mum, dad and sister was!
