Story

Plain and simple, I’ve signed up to do the Lurig Challenge Run in August this year. For those who dont know, its a run up a massive mountain and back down again. For those that do know, im absolutely bobbins at running and this entire thing fills me with dread!

So, i thought that a great way to spur me on would be to raise some money for a great cause. I have therefore decided to raise some money for two amazing and extra special little girls who are very close to my heart. they are the beautiful Ellissa Summer, and Lola Grace.

Now what makes these girls extra special is that they both have additional needs, Ellissa has a very rare generic disorder called FoxG1 and Lola has recently been diagnosed with the auto-immune disease type 1 diabetes. Whilst their needs are very different, the impact that their needs have had on their families has been very similar. Caring for a child with additional needs is not only extremely demanding of a parent, it also comes with lots of hidden pressures that people don’t see. There are also many finacial implications with parents having to give up work, to provide an adequate level of care along with the ongoing medical costs and specialist equipment not covered by the NHS or social care services.

For those reasons I want to raise some money to ease the pressure on two very deserving families so that the girls can be supported to live with their additional needs as easily as possible. The money raised will go towards funding specialist equipment for the girls and a donation made on their behalf to a charity of their choice that directly supports the girls. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for your support!

And dont forget, im running up a massive mountain for this so dont be tight 😂
