Story

We are raising funds to support core running costs, such as specialist accountancy fees, to keep Graft Community CIC sustainable for the future.

Graft Community CIC delivers meaningful, accessible and impactful community art projects across Bristol, bringing art and culture to underserved communities in areas of multiple deprivation.

We specialise in community engagement, co-creating mural projects which reflect and celebrate places and people, through hands-on workshops and accessible engagement activities. In 2024-5 we delivered a large-scale project in Barton Hill, working with 8 community groups and delivering a beautiful community mural celebrating the local community past and present. We are currently working on a project bringing art activities and work experience to adults with learning disabilities, in collaboration with two local charities.

We rely on grant funding for our projects, which is increasingly difficult, with funding opportunities shrinking as demand increases steadily. Last year we applied for 10 grants and commissions, and were awarded just one project grant, with 150+ applications received per fund.

As a CIC we depend on a specialist accountant to prepare our year end accounts, and the fee for these services alone (excluding bookkeeping and other overheads) is a quarter of the value of that one grant, meaning we can't pay for it from our income as a CIC.

We are asking our supporters to help us continue our valuable work with communities by donating towards the 'boring stuff' - the day-to-day costs which keep us running and able to apply for the grants which will fund the more exciting stuff!
