I'm raising £1,000 for McMillan Cancer and Ocean Youth Trust Scotland to give a little back whilst completing this personal challenge.

Cumbrae Challenge 2025 is a race for Folkboats, 1/8th.

The boats are remote controlled scale models based on the real yacht, a legendary design by Tord Sunden. They are world renown, a very robust yacht.

I came across the model via a friend. Having owned a Folkboat yacht, I contacted the builder and arranged to buy a one in ‘Kit Form’ and it was then I thought about doing this challenge, and one boat grew to three with support from minifolkboat@gmail.com.

So here we are. The race is scheduled for 21st June weather permitting. Largs is a small town on the River Clyde west of Glasgow. The race is approx. 15 miles. ‘Round the Island’.

So why not try and raise some monies for charity. This is all self financed so every penny raised goes to my chosen charities.
