I am one a small group of veterans taking part in a 7 day, 100 mile trek across the Scottish West Highland Way on 07 September 2020 in aid of Phoenix Heroes, a small not-for-profit organisation providing PTSD support to veterans and their families. Phoenix Heroes do this by organising outdoor group activities, providing training courses, and helping with employment issues. Their ambassador is Billy Billingham from Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins.

PTSD is an anxiety disorder caused by very stressful, frightening and/or distressing events. Veterans with PTSD often relive traumatic events through nightmares and flashbacks, and may experience feelings of isolation, irritability and guilt. The first step is to reach out to someone...
