Story
Why We’re Raising Money For Graham
Graham Shaw is a much loved husband, dad, family man, friend and hugely respected figure within the local community.
For decades, Graham has given his time, energy and heart to others. He has always been the person who puts people first, offers support, gives his time quietly and makes a difference wherever he can.
Many people will know Graham through his incredible commitment to Hindpool Tigers ARLFC. For more than 30 years, Graham has dedicated countless hours to the club as a player, coach and Chairman, helping to shape the lives of generations of young people through rugby league.
Hindpool Tigers ARLFC is more than a club. It is a family. And Graham has been at the heart of that family for decades.
His selfless service, leadership and passion for youth sport have left a lasting legacy within the club and far beyond it.
Beyond rugby league, Graham has always been someone who gives back. He has previously raised money for the RUMIC Trust, helping to fund a disabled bus for Barrow Island School, and has also supported the Wheelchair Wildcats, raising vital funds to help provide inclusive sporting opportunities for wheelchair users.
Supporting others has always come naturally to Graham.
Now, Graham and his family need our support.
Graham’s Diagnosis
In May 2025, Graham was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. It is a life changing diagnosis that has turned everything upside down for Graham, his wife Lauren, and their two teenage boys, Harry and Bobby.
Since then, Graham has faced months of treatment, uncertainty, pain and emotional strain with incredible strength, courage and determination.
As a family, they have had to process the unimaginable while trying to stay strong, keep going and fight for every possible option.
A Major Treatment Update
We wanted to give everyone an update on how Graham’s treatment has been going in Spain, and to say how incredibly grateful and humbled we are by everyone’s love and support throughout this awful journey.
Firstly, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Graham has now completed three rounds of intraperitoneal chemotherapy in Spain. The medical team have told us that the treatment has stabilised the growth of the tumours, which is incredible news.
Even more amazingly, they have now said they are around 90 percent confident that they can remove the cancer.
This is something we were never told in England.
The next step would be major surgery in Spain. This would involve Graham staying there for around a month, including time in intensive care.
This gives Graham a chance that his family had previously never been given.
But the cost of this life saving treatment is enormous.
The total cost is approximately £130,000.
We are currently around £60,000 short of the target needed to give Graham the surgery he so desperately needs and deserves.
Why This Is So Urgent
The medical team want to operate in the coming weeks while things are stable.
That leaves Graham and his family in an incredibly difficult position. The timescale is so short that they cannot simply sell their family home to raise the money.
Their home is also heavily adapted for Bobby’s additional needs, meaning selling up is not straightforward for the family.
This is why we are asking once again for help.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference.
Every £5, £10, £20, £50 or £100 helps move Graham closer to the surgery that could change everything.
Family At The Heart Of This Journey
Graham is a devoted husband to Lauren and a proud dad to their two teenage boys, Harry and Bobby.
Like many families affected by cancer, their lives have been turned upside down.
This fundraiser is not only about supporting Graham through treatment. It is about helping to provide stability, reassurance and support for Lauren, Harry and Bobby during an incredibly difficult time.
They have already shown so much strength as a family.
Now they need their village around them more than ever.

A Message From The Family
We want to take a moment to say how unbelievably loved and supported Graham and our family have felt, not just recently, but ever since his diagnosis in May last year.
We are so grateful to every single family member, friend, teammate, club member, neighbour and supporter who has stood by us through every step of this journey.
We are incredibly blessed to have such an amazing village around us.
With that in mind, we are reaching out once again to ask for your help in getting Graham the surgery he so desperately needs and deserves.
Please remember, life is for living.
Don’t wait to tell someone you love them.
Don’t put off taking that trip.
Don’t delay making those memories.
None of us know what is around the corner, and tomorrow is never guaranteed.
And please, check your poo.
Thank You
Graham has spent so much of his life giving to others through his family, his community and Hindpool Tigers ARLFC.
Now, we have the opportunity to give something back.
Thank you for taking the time to read, donate, share and support.
From Graham, Lauren, Harry and Bobby, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
