Story
I'm raising money for the We Are Wimbledon Fund and I’m going to attempt something really daft to do it: running a marathon off the back of two weeks’ training.
Sounds bonkers, right, but let me explain….
Sometime back in May i fell over and damaged ankle tendons - and then a few weeks later got diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. A sub-optimal summer.
Since then, I’d not done anything more than 5/10k until Saturday August 30 when I managed to plod/run/walk around Henley Half Marathon.
So I’m calling that training day one - which means I’ll be going from 10k to 26 miles on September 14 at New Forest Marathon in 15 days. Eeek.
No guarantee I’ll get round, but if I can raise a few quid for WAWF then that’s my motivation to give it a shot. And if I don’t make it, it won’t cost you a penny!
For those who don’t know, WAWF is raising funds to boost AFC Wimbledon’s playing budget as we take on League One. It won’t save the planet but it might just save us from relegation (or get us into the play-offs!) You can read more about WAWF at wearewimbledonfund.com
Thanks for reading. And COYD.
