Story
SWELL is a charity very close to me and my family. They have supported us greatly since my mother’s diagnosis and have helped her in many ways such as gaining confidence to try new things, meet new people and most importantly help her realise that she is more than just her diagnosis. Since my mother has began classes and activities at SWELL I have seen her blossom into an incredible woman and this charity has given her the opportunity to find herself. SWELL has provided a private place to talk for my mother and family as well as group activities where we are able to meet people who have experienced a similar journey to us. The support from SWELL has been nothing but amazing and they have shown that it will continue to be this way regardless of how long ago my mother’s diagnosis was. I am walking 200 miles this month in aid of SWELL as I want to give back to a charity that has given so much to me and my family, and to raise awareness that this type of support is available for not just cancer patients but their families as well, for cancer does not just impact the patient but also those surrounding them.
