    Story

The Draft Local Plan 2018 proposes to allocate Site H21 Kingsley Drive and H22 Granby Farm for Residential Development. The public consultation for this plan finishes on March 9th so make your objections now.

We need to raise funds to fight the proposed development at Granby Farm.

We ask everyone opposed to this development to make a contribution.

We would like to engage planning consultants (Arrowsmith Associates) to help us in our campaign to prevent the proposed development of Granby Farm. As you can imagine the costs associated with engaging specialist planning consultants are significant and we need to raise £5,000 to pay for the required consultancy.

Arrowsmith Associates provided consultancy services to Hookstone Residents Group in their successful campaign to oppose a planning application in the Hookstone area (as publicised in the local media, the Hookstone plannng application was recently rejected by Harrogate Borough Council)..

Our main objections to the proposed development are summarised below:

    - Eradication of the Green Wedge.

    - Inadequate Traffic Infrastructure.

    - Destruction of Amenity Space (Devonshire Gardens).

    - Continuing disruption for residents.

    - Pollution.

    - Lack of local services.

    - Ecological impact to the habitat of legally protected and endangered species.

    - Destruction of recreational area.

    - Adverse impact to the historic setting of the area.

The accumulative effect of this secondary phase of increased housing in a quarter mile radius does not seem to have been sufficiently considered or planned for.

Our best wishes to your community as you fight the development. This is a beautiful space and I hope it remains as such.

Agree that H22 should not be built on. Sites H21, H22, H23, H48 and H3 would mean a combined total of 494 houses in the area. Let’s work together to ensure it doesn’t happen!

A definite no to this, we hope that everyone living on the Devonshire Gardens development will lend their support. We need to keep our green space for our children and grandchildren.
