The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is an award-winning charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. In 2015, 75% of all UK suicides were male.
Offering support to men in the UK, of any age, who are down or in crisis via our helpline, webchat and website
Challenging a culture that prevents men seeking help when they need it, through CALMzine and campaigns such as #ManDictionary and #BiggerIssues
Pushing for changes in policy and practice so that suicide is better prevented, via partnerships such as The Alliance of Suicide Prevention Charities (TASC), the National Suicide Prevention Alliance (NSPA)
Supporting those bereaved by suicide, through the Support After Suicide Partnership (SASP), hosted by CALM, which aims to ensure that everyone bereaved or affected by suicide is offered and receives timely and appropriate support
The Captain Cymru Foundation raises crucial funds for a number of charities. This includes Thyroid Cancer. In 2015 the foundation launched The November challenge to encourage children to get active at the same time raising tens of thousands for Thyroid Cancer. With the foundations focus on Children opportunity and development, In 2016 the Foundation built a school in the slums of Nairobi, funded the teaching staff and equipment for 3 years to help educate children.
THE CHALLENGE
273 km in 6 stages, over 7 days. Make no mistake, it’s tough Running through the Utah and Arizona desert, climbing over 18,000 feet !
The Grand to Grand Ultra is the first self-supported stage footrace ever to take place in America, on a world class course that has been experienced by few brave adventurers. Running at anywhere between 5300 feet and 9000 feet, altitude will play its part as will some of the incredible climbs the athletes will have to tackle whilst carrying all their supplies on the backs!
