Story

Hi welcome to my page I'm trying my very hardest to raise a proportion of the cost to give W02 Grant Armstrong a new headstone and surround. Im due to emigrate this year to to austalia and before we leave i need to make sure that grants grave is easly maintainable. For years now I have argued that grants grave isn't maintained BY army commission graves And the church where grant is buried the grass is never cut due to the grounds people not looking after it, resulting in the grass growing up to your knees a number of times me and my daughter have cut the grass with a pair of scissors we just feel so sad when we go down there and ashamed of what a mess it looks.I've been battling so long now I have dreaded visiting due to the state of it. my daughter has been so upset about it saying nobody loves it, that everybody else's graves look so nice and daddy's looks so sad and says she dosent feel thats its a happy place to visit.
The war graves commission advised if he had a army grave it would be maintained having this headstone meant a lot being army born and bred thats what he deserved. I am so proud of his achievments in his army career and not forgetting his biggest battle at the end of his life . 7 years later it was found out that grant had been missed and that his grave had not been cleaned which is why it now looks so awful there is nothing I can do. The staining is irreversible as it just comes back I'm not allowed to touch it and and even if I did its been left for too long now to bring it back up to any decent standard without it still looking like it's a 100 years old.
I would like to take his headstone down and replace it with a marble one and have a surround put round the grave to stop it being so muddy and overgrown.I would like him to have a clean mantained grave the place of rest he deserves somewhere fit for our king somewhere fit for a soldier. Somewhere where people can visit and remember him smiling not somewhere that looks so sad and tired.
