Story
Gravesend RNLI Lifeboat Station is based on the River Thames and is one of the busiest Lifeboat Stations in the UK. The crew at Gravesend save lives along a 26 mile patch from the Thames Flood Barrier in Woolwich down to Canvey Island.
The station was opened in 2002 and since then has been called out over 1500 times, rescuing 864 and saving 69 lives.
The RNLI is a charity - 95% of our total income is from donations, we are separate from the coastguard and independent of government so we couldn't do what we do without the generosity and support of people like you.

Every year our volunteer crew at Gravesend complete an annual fundraiser to help raise funds for the RNLI. This year we had planned to complete a sponsored walk in May. Starting at Teddington Lifeboat Station and finishing at Gravesend Lifeboat Station, following the Thames Path. A total distance of 55 miles with a (fairly ambitious) target to complete it in under 24hrs! (Look out for it in 2021!)
The coronavirus pandemic means that normal community fundraising can’t take place. Like a lot of plans at this time we took the sad decision to cancel our walk due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. However, this hasn’t stopped our crew!
For the month of May the crew have been walking, running and cycling and have collectively covered an incredible 2738 miles!!

Despite the ongoing Covid 19 situation our crew at Gravesend are still on call 24/7 ready to rescue those in danger on the River Thames. Please donate to help raise money to fund training, equipment and running costs at Gravesend Lifeboat Station. Every single penny raised will make a difference and together we can save more lives at sea.
We would like to thank everyone for your support. We are all looking forward to the day we can get together as a crew again safely!
