Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm running the London Marathon to raise money for two charities that support children with Type 1 Diabetes. This page is for donations in support of the Hampshire Paediatric Diabetes Group.

Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong condition where a person's body no longer produces insulin, meaning their blood glucose level can be dangerously high. Over time high glucose levels in your blood can seriously damage your heart, eyes, feet and kidneys. On the flipside, being given too much artificial insulin to counter the effects of a meal can lead to severe complications and in extreme cases, death. With the right treatment and care, the effects of diabetes can be managed, but children like my son Jack will - unless a cure is found - need to manage their condition every minute of the day for the rest of their lives.

Since 1972 HPDG have been there for diabetic children and their families in Hamsphire. They have provided support, advice and networking events for thousands of families - educating parents in managing their children’s condition, and building the confidence of the young T1 person, encouraging and developing their independence and assisting them in looking after their condition as they move to adulthood. They also provide support and resources to local hospitals and their staff.

As a small charity run for and by the families of children with Type 1 diabetes, every donation will make a real difference to their ability to support the kids and help to give them as normal a childhood as possible.

As this is a crowdfunding page - HPDG being too small to feature as a listed chairity on Justgiving - all donations will come to me first, and will then be passed to HPDG. I'm more than happy to provide evidence of the transaction if required :)
