Greek authorities have declared a state of emergency in the eastern and western part of greater Athens as fires fanned by gale-force winds raged through pine forests and seaside towns leaving dozens stranded from their houses that have been completely destroyed. The death toll sadly is increasing every hour and hundreds of people are still missing. More than 1000 houses have been completely burnt and destroyed. Municipality of Rafina has advised that there is currently a great supply of food and clothes and they instead encourage people to contribute financially to support those in need.
