Greenspace Volunteers SK is a dedicated community group working to enhance neglected outdoor public spaces across Stockport. Our mission centres on improving the amenity, safety, and visual appeal of these areas, with a particular focus on the entrances to Reddish Vale Country Park. The group collaborates closely with other local organisations, offering support through their diverse skill sets. Entirely volunteer-led, Greenspace Volunteers has no paid staff. The team comprises some 28 active volunteers, many of whom are trained in the use of power tools, with five having completed task day leadership training provided by Stockport Council.

We won Community Group of the Year award and the This is the Place award at the Forever Manchester awards ceremony in February 2026. In addition to this, we made a successful funding bid to the National Lottery for £19,000 to purchase a new van, which we now have. The new van offers seating space for up to six crew and ample storage space for equipment: it is making it much easier to carry out tasks such as mowing, litter-picking or clearing of undergrowth wherever they are needed.
