About Surrey Young Carers

Surrey Young Carers has been supporting young carers across the county since 1996

Surrey Young Carers supports young carers aged under 18 by:
Giving you information, advice and guidance - in person, online, and in print
Giving them someone to talk to
Talking to others on there behalf, to support them as a carer
Providing activities for 'downtime', fun, and a chance to talk to others and make new friends
Supporting them with problems at school or college, or in making plans for the future
Giving them opportunities to give there views on the support they receive.

A Message from Michelle (Manager of SYC)

"We want you to know that you are not alone when you are caring for someone in your family. There are many young people like you living in Surrey and we have lots of ways to help you as a carer. We can also give you the opportunity to have some fun and time out from caring, make new friends with other young carers and help you to understand more about the illness or disability of the person that you are caring for.

Our staff will be able to get you the information you need and access to the services which can make your daily life better.

Your views are important too and part of what we do is to give you a chance to have a say about what it’s like to be a carer and what could be changed to make your life easier.

We want you to have the same opportunities and fun as other young people you know.
