I've raised £3000 to provide a donation to Recyke y'bike and Mind in recognition of the restorative and stress-busting nature of sports.

Luke, Jodie, Steve, Matt and Paolo from GT3 Architects will cycle the 220 miles from our studio in Nottingham to our studio in Newcastle in September to raise money for Recyke y’bike and Mind .
The team, which includes Architects and Technologists from both studios, chose the charities in recognition of the great work both do to support sport, health and wellbeing. Recyke y’bike helps to address various social issues by saving unwanted bikes from landfill and recycling them or selling them to give away to people in need. They also provide training in a range of settings, such as in prisons, where they share essential maintenance skills.
Sara Newson at Recyke y’bike said:
"We're delighted that GT3 Architects have chosen to support us for their challenge. Our core purpose is to get more people cycling as it's brilliant for the environment, for health, mental well-being and a low cost way to get around. It's also really fun! It's great that GT3 understand the value of cycling and are supporting our mission. We wish the participants the very best of luck."
25% of funds raised will go to Mind in an effort to share the stress-busting and endorphin inducing nature of cycling. Steve Mirtle, Associate Director at GT3 Architects said:
“I’m a strong believer in the power of exercise, and cycling in particular. Physical exercise, combined with getting out and about in the fresh air, and often in different environments is great for getting rid of the cobwebs and for reducing stress.”
The ride has been organised by Architect, Luke Willett. He explained:
“We’re really looking forward to taking on this challenge together, and it’s great that the team includes colleagues from both studios. Training together is a bit difficult, but we’re talking and encouraging each other along the way. It will make it all the more interesting when it comes to the ride and I think it supports the links between our two studios. As a leading practice in the sports, leisure and community sectors, we’re passionate about helping to get as many people as possible active and working together. The wider ride team will include people who didn’t want to take on the challenge itself, but who are still very much part of it in supporting us to transport equipment, encouraging us along the way and sharing what we’re doing with the wider community on social media to hopefully raise valuable funds for our chosen charities.”
The ride will take place over the weekend of 28th September.
