Story
The Glasgow University Palliative Care Society would like to raise funds for the charity PATCH.
Palliative care is about supporting patients with terminal illnesses. This support may be physical, emotional or practical, with the objective of improving the patient’s quality of life.
As of the current review of palliative care services in Scotland (Audit 2008), it is not mandatory for hospitals to provide 24/7 specialist palliative care.
PATCH (Palliation and the Caring Hospital) is a Scottish charity that aims to fill that gap. The charity offers funding to hospitals so that they may enhance and develop their palliative care service, with the goal that patients would be able to have 24/7 access to high quality palliative care, whenever necessary.
PATCH is currently the only charity with a specific focus on palliative care.
We will be raising funds for PATCH through our upcoming events. We will continue to update this page as we begin our events.
