Story

LEAP Sports Scotland (Leadership, Equality, and Active Participation in Sports for LGBT people in Scotland) is a charity which works for greater inclusion for LGBT people in sport and against homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia in a sports context. They support the development of new and existing LGBT sports clubs in Scotland, by offering club promotion, advice and guidance, training and workshops, and representation at conferences and events. They also run peer support groups such as ‘Get Back OUT’ which is focused on helping LGBT people in the Greater Glasgow area engage in physical activity following the social isolation of COVID-19.

As a club, Glasgow University Women’s Rugby Football Club (GUWRFC) have a large LGBT membership, and we are all passionate about supporting LGBT rights, especially when it comes to sport. We believe that no one’s sexual orientation or gender identity should be a barrier to them being involved in sport, and that we should celebrate diversity. We have been involved in selling rainbow laces for Stonewall in the past, and now we would like to support LGBT people in a local setting.

On Wednesday 11th January, GUWRFC are going to try to lift 100,000kg in the gym, to fundraise and support LEAP Sports Scotland. We have set ourselves an ambitious fundraising target and would love your support to reach it!
