I'm raising £500 to support Link Torbay and Sound Communities by running the London Marathon

Story

Well – here we go again! Exactly 10 years after my first attempt, I am taking part in the London Marathon once again. You will know that I am not the most natural of runners, but that hasn’t put me off, with the opportunity to raise some money for two incredible local charities on the way.

I’m incredibly fortunate to be inspired every day by my family. My wife is a runner herself and knows exactly what the training demands, my son Dylan puts in the hard work at the gym, my daughter is doing brilliantly at St Andrews University, and my son Dan has provided a huge amount of motivation. He has cerebral palsy, yet he shows extraordinary determination - training hard at the gym and fundraising with a drive and resilience I could only hope to match. Dan never gives up, and that spirit will carry me through every mile of this marathon. If he can keep pushing forward, then so can I.

Dan has had incredible support from a lot of people. The marathon gives me an opportunity to raise some well-deserved funds for two of the charities that Dan works with. Firstly, there is Link Torbay, a Community Interest Company that provides specialist coaching for adults and children with neurological conditions. Tom from Link has supported Dan in the gym for 3 years now, and the transformation has been incredible. Dan also works with Sound Communities, with a regular radio show on Saturday! Both charities have done so much for Dan, so it would be great to give back to them in a very small way.

Your support will make a real difference, not only in helping me reach the finish line but also in supporting these two incredible causes. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated - thank you for cheering me on as I lace up my trainers for another unforgettable marathon!
