Story

At the end of this month I will be heading to Calais for 10 days to volunteer for Help Refugees, a young grassroots collective that has grown to become one of the largest and most efficient refugee aid operations currently running in Europe and the Middle East.

Since the demolition of the Calais Jungle in 2016 and the burning down of the Dunkirk camp in 2017, the refugees in France are in a more vulnerable state than ever, with around 1,500 sleeping rough on the streets, and facing hostility from the authorities. Help Refugees carries out incredible work everyday by tirelessly providing blankets, clothes, food and water, Wifi and women’s and children’s services. I will be assisting their team members in their warehouse to help in any way I can.

I would love to be able to take some essential supplies with me to the warehouse, so would extremely appreciate it if you could spare a penny or two to help those in need. The items that I buy with your donations will be taken from the Help Refugees needs list, which can be found here: https://helprefugees.org/calais/needs-list/ My journey to Calais and my accommodation has already been paid for, so any money that you donate will go directly towards my buying of the items on the list. Any leftover money will be donated directly to Help Refugees to help them in their wonderful work. (https://helprefugees.org/)
