I'm helping to raise money for the Rose Walton Centre, a small local charity desperate for support.

The centre was set up to help 0-five year olds with motor learning needs in 1992. Being such a small charity with very limited funding, they need all the help they can get.

I'm not connected to the Centre in any way. I'm a member of a local Health & Fitness club, Fitgirlslim. Every year we support a different charity and this year we decided to support The Rose Walton Centre.

My mentor and trainer Mrs Karen Smith sees first hand the amazing work they do. Karen said: “The work they do is so ground-breaking and so incredible – they get children who are told they are never going to walk or talk to the point where they can go to a mainstream school.

The centre’s senior facilitating manager Jessica O’ Brien says staff are delighted to have the help and support of the local community, because without enough money they can’t keep the centre going.

“We rely on donations to carry on doing what we do. The work is hard but very rewarding. Watching a parent listen to their child’s first words when they have been told they’ll never say anything is incredible."

Fitgirlslim have so far raised over £2,000 for the Rose Walton Centre but we need to raise more. The money raised by Fitgirlslim will go towards a new specialist floor, which helps train the children to walk
