    Story

    Who is Trenton McKinley?

Trenton McKinley is a young boy who was left with severe brain injuries after a small utility trailer he was playing on with friends flipped and fell on his head in March 2018.

The 13-year-old was rushed to hospital with seven skull fractures and died multiple times from his injuries.

According to his mother Jennifer Reindl at one stage he died for almost 15 minutes – which Doctors believed would severely damaged his brain function and leave him as a “vegetable”.

In the days following the accident he remained brain dead and barely breathing on a life support machine.

Doctors told his parents Trenton would “never be normal again” and they made the difficult decision to turn his life support off and donate his organs as he was a match for five seriously ill kids.

However, a day before his life support was due to be turned off the young lad started showing signs of brain activity and movement, defying the odds.

His mum claims he began breathing on his own and woke up speaking full sentences in late March.

He still suffers from nerve pain and seizures and will need surgery to reconnect half of his skull.

Since waking up it is thought he’s had several operations to repair his fractured skull and his family say he is making good progress.

What has Trenton said about his accident?

The young boy claims to remember nothing about his accident which left him with seven skull fractures.

He said: “I hit the concrete and the trailer landed on top of my head. After that, I don’t remember anything.”

Trenton added that he thinks a lot more before doing things as a result of the accident originally left him without a skull.

The day before his life support was due to be turned off, he started to show signs of brain activity and life, which he has credited to God. He said: “I was in an open field walking straight. “

There’s no other explanation but God. There’s no other way. Even doctors said it.”

Thank you for any and all support as it is much appreciated. Any extra funds will be put towards fulfilling to cover Trenton’s medical bills
