As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah hi wa ba rakatuhu

I hope that you are well and have been able to make the most of this blessed month of Ramadhaan so far. For those of you that may not know who I am, my name is Habib, I am from Harare, Zimbabwe and currently based in Leicester as I look to gain some work experience here in the first world, having graduated last year! Some of you may remember that during Ramadhaan last year, I had a fundraiser to help the needy and widows support their families as part of a campaign by iWIN. Alhamdulillah the campaign was a success, so this year I have decided to fundraise again, during the last ten nights of Ramadhaan!

Having grown up in Zimbabwe, I have been able to appreciate first-hand how fortunate I am to have the life that I do, with many people living in poverty and not being able to make ends meet. This made me think of how I can give back to the community and help those that need it the most. From a very young age, my parents instilled in my siblings and I the importance of being kind and charitable for the sake of Allah (swt). Over the years, I have been involved in a number of charity initiatives, covering different aspects.

Unfortunately, the economic situation in Zimbabwe continues to get worse, leaving more and more people in need of basic necessities. Money raised as part of this fundraising initiative will provide support in the following forms:

• Food Hampers

• Medical

• Education

• Monthly support for families

• Sponsoring orphanages

• Building dwellings for homeless families

• Supporting communities by setting up self-sufficiency projects

These are the best nights of the year, and any one of them could be Laylatul Qadr, a night which is better than a thousand months! Let’s all aim to make the most of the remaining time we have of this Ramadhaan. I hope that I can encourage my family, friends and the wider community to donate however much they can in order to help make this an even bigger and better success than what we managed to achieve last year! May Allah reward you all for your donations and contributions and make it a means of good both in this world and the Hereafter. Aameen.
