    **UPDATE**

The Hackney Half Marathon has been postponed until the Autumn due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But now more than ever the causes which Jack believed in need to be championed.

We know COVID-19 hits hardest those who have the least. We know our prisons reflect the social inequalities of our society. We know people working in our prisons are doing a very difficult job at a very challenging time. Let’s #RememberJack and stand in solidarity with those who work and live in our prisons at this time.

At 9am on the 17th May we will still be running/cycling/walking, using our daily exercise and we'd love to get you involved too! So we challenge you to get on your running shoes and #RememberJack.1k/5k/10k whatever you can do and what ever you can donate #RunningForJack - if we can't be together we will still run together!

When you run/cycle/walk please tweet a selfie with #RunningForJack and #LearningTogether so we can see everyone!

Follow our Instagram account @runningforjack for updates and inspiration!

And finally, if you'd like to, please join our Strava running club: https://www.strava.com/clubs/616869/group_events/690050

Learning Together programme is run by the University of Cambridge which brings together people in criminal justice and higher education institutions, to study alongside each other in inclusive and transformative learning communities.

Our dear friend Jack worked for Learning Together and was tragically killed last November while putting on a conference for the organisation in London.

Jack was extremely passionate about prisoner rehabilitation and prison reform and had an innate knack for seeing the good in people. His Dad, Dave, spoke about Jack's work saying that, 'There are around about 60 prisoners who will never be released, everybody else will be released. So the focus of the whole system should be on public safety and rehabilitation.'

Jack wouldn't have wanted the circumstances of his death to affect the amazing work that Learning Together does, so please give as generously as you can to help them continue this work.

'Borrow his intelligence, share his drive, feel his passion, burn with his anger, and extinguish hatred with his kindness. Never give up his fight.' - We're all counting on this passion to get us all over the finish line!

Now and forever, Jack Merritt x

    Thank you! ❤

An unimaginable loss to humanity cut off when he would have been one of the UK's greatest humanist achievers. Very pleased his life has been celebrated on BBC Radio 4 Law in Action on 1st anniversary.

Jacks empathy towards the rehabilitation of those in prison and humanising prisoners and advocating this is truly admirable
