    Story

Further to this, James will be then be jumping out of a plane at 15,000 feet in a tandem skydive on Thursday 14th April with a number of other people. Please read on for more information....

    Who is Eden

Eden is full of life, very cheeky and loved by so many people. She loves school, baking and, of course, playing. She has lots of friends, especially her big sister, Tia.

In April 2021, at the height of wave 3 of Covid 19, Eden was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer that has a 40-50% chance of long-term survival at diagnosis.

Eden's parents are currently fundraising for potentially lifesaving treatment, either to get their daughter into remission or to try and keep the cancer away if her frontline treatment does go to plan. This could cost hundreds of thousands of pounds.

    Eden's Story

Eden was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma in April 2021, just a month after her 6th birthday. A couple of weeks before diagnosis, she had been complaining of pains in her legs which her parents had put down to growing pains. When Eden's mum, Jen, contacted the GPs surgery, she was offered a telephone appointment only and the doctor agreed it was growing pains. After returning to school after the half-term break, Eden was sent home on two consecutive days drip-white and shivering, her parents realised there was more to it than just the windows in school being open for ventilation.

Eden was taken to A&E where she was X-rayed and told to attend a pediatric orthopedics appointment later that week. The doctor ordered urgent blood tests and then an MRI scan which was immediately followed by a CT scan. Her parents were then told the devastating news that Eden had cancer.

The day they got the news, their world fell apart. The happy, beautiful, polite little girl was being eaten from the inside by this aggressive form of cancer, say parents Jen and Lee.

Eden and Jen were taken to Leeds to start treatment straight away while dad, Lee, stayed home to look after Tia. Further scans and tests showed that the cancer was located in 7 places around Eden's tiny body.

    Treatment so far

Eden started treatment within hours of being diagnosed. She started with 80 days of Rapid Cojec chemotherapy during which she needed several blood transfusions, bone marrow aspirates and stem-cell harvesting. Eden also tested positive for Covid which resulted in treatment being delayed.

After scans and tests showed that she was not yet ready to move onto the next stage of the treatment plan which was surgery, Eden had to endure 6 rounds of BIT chemotherapy which made her very sick. Eden still has a long way to go with her frontline treatment but is facing the challenges head-on and with a great determination to get better.

"All through the 14 rounds of chemo and endless tests and scans, Eden has kept her smile and sense of fun despite the drugs making her extremely sick. She always maintains her impeccable manners and politeness even when she is feeling very poorly. Her strength and bravery are truly incredible, and she gives strength to everyone around her too," say parents Jen and Lee.

Once Eden completed chemotherapy, she will then face surgery, high dose chemotherapy, radiotherapy and finally immunotherapy to complete frontline treatment.

    Eden's Fundraising Campaign

Edens family are fundraising with the hope that if eligible, Eden can access the Bivalent Vaccine clinical trial in New York once she has completed her frontline treatment.

The lovely little girl deserves to have her future and to live out her dreams.

If you would like to donate to this cause, please feel free to do so as your support is very much appreciated.
